2026 Conference on Mechanism and Institution Design

Our 2026 Conference on Mechanism and Institution Design will take place between June 22-26, 2026, at York, UK. The conference will be organized by Yuan Ju, Paul Schweinzer, and Zaifu Yang and will be hosted as in-person meeting by the University of York, Department of Economics and Related Studies.

The conference welcomes paper submissions from all fields of economics, business, finance, politics, computer science, operations research, law, and history which are or may be relevant to mechanism or institution design in a broad sense, regardless of whether contributions are theoretical, empirical, experimental, or practical.

York is a beautiful historical city with a rich heritage and a wealth of attractions being one of the most popular tourist destinations in the UK. We would like to advise you to make a hotel reservation as soon as possible if you wish to attend the conference, in order to avoid a shortage of affordable accommodation.

• Registration opens: 01-Apr-2026. Early registration deadline: 01-Jun-2026

• Registration deadline: 15-Jun-2026.

• Conference fees:

Fees include full admission to all scientific venues, a gala dinner, 4 lunches, drinks, and the membership of the Society for the Promotion of Mechanism and Institution Design.
• Up to 01-Jun-2026, Regular registration fee: £380 (GBP); students £280 (GBP)

• After 01-Jun-2026, Late registration fee: £430 (GBP); students £330 (GBP)

• Spouse registration:  £100 (GBP); fees include a gala dinner and all social events.

• Paper submission:

• We will accept paper submissions from October, 1st, 2025 through March, 1st, 2026.

• Papers should be submitted in PDF with a cover letter to cmid2026@gmail.com.

• Each individual is allowed one paper submission. Student authorship should be declared.

• Accommodation:

• A limited number of en-suite rooms are offered through the University of York's conference office.

• Local budget hotel accommodation includes Travelodge, Premier Inn, and IBIS.

• Hostels in proximity to the campus include Ace York, The Fort Boutique Hostel, and YHA York.
